The Currier House

Oliver Reasin "O.R." Currier (1863–1936), affectionately known as "Ollie," was a prominent figure in Havre de Grace, Maryland, remembered for his extensive civic involvement and leadership. After the tragic death of his father in 1865, O.R. was raised by his cousin, Matthew James Cameron, a local businessman who owned the Havre de Grace Livery Stable. Following his high school graduation, O.R. joined Cameron in the family business, eventually taking over and modernizing it into a garage as automobiles became more prevalent during World War I.

Beyond his entrepreneurial endeavors, O.R. was deeply committed to public service. He served two terms as a Havre de Grace City Councilman and held the position of City Treasurer. In 1902, he became the first Chief of the Susquehanna Hose Company, a role he fulfilled for 15 years, demonstrating his dedication to the safety and well-being of the community.
