
Job Description: Harmer's Town Art Center Executive Director

Background:
Harmer’s Town Art Center (HTAC), Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed to develop, operate, and manage a regional art facility, creativity incubator, and economic contributor. The Center is located in the Arts & Entertainment District of Havre de Grace, Maryland. HTAC, is in the process of restoring and repurposing a vacant 34,000-square-foot commercial building as well as managing completed one acre park known as “Graw Alley”. HTAC will be a place where artists can work, create, perform, teach, and market their art, while preserving and celebrating the history and traditions of Havre de Grace. The Board of HTAC is currently conducting a search for a full- time, salaried Executive Director to lead this new art center. It is a special opportunity for a professional to apply their skills to help to create a unique regional art center. The position requires a combination of organizational, administrative, and management skills to oversee the development and daily operations of a regional art center.
The Executive Director will work with the Board to implement the strategic plan of HTAC, as well as manage the administration and programs of the Center. A current consultant is available to develop and implement programs. Responsibilities include fundraising, marketing, technology integration, community outreach, and oversight of capital projects.
The successful candidate will be a problem solver with an eye for detail, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and will be able to adapt to changing requirements and deadlines in the ever-evolving world of non-profits.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Board Governance: Collaborates with the Board to fulfill the mission of HTAC

Leads HTAC in alignment with the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.

Maintains effective communication with the Board and provides timely and accurate information necessary for decision-making.

Ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and maintains proper documentation.
2.Financial Performance and Viability: Secures resources to maintain the financial stability of the organization.

Manages fundraising activities and develops additional revenue streams to support HTAC’s objectives.

Enhances communications efforts across web platforms, social media, and external relations to establish brand presence.
3. Organization Mission and Strategy: Works alongside the Board and other stakeholders to implement the mission through programs, planning, and outreach.

Supports the visibility of HTAC within the community and coordinates with professional, civic, and private organizations.

Guides the use of technology in organizational practices.

Manages capital projects.

Implements programs aligned with HTAC’s mission.

Identifies grant opportunities and prepares comprehensive proposals.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

Proven work experience as a non-profit Executive Director, Assistant Director or similar role

Knowledge of volunteer recruitment and how to get individuals involved for the organization’s success

Strong knowledge of financials and how to build financial forecasting documents for the Board of Directors

Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors

A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results

Experience in capital campaigns and capital projects

Strong communication skills

Experience in enhancing brand reputation through web platforms, social media, and marketing

TIMELINE
HTAC intends to hire the Executive Director as quickly as possible to work with the Board in the development of Harmer's Town Art Center. The position is a hybrid remote in Havre de Grace.

Executive Director Evaluation
-All proposals will be reviewed by a selection committee of members of the Board of Directors. HTAC will notify the individuals submitting proposals that are not selected. The Board will select the preferred candidate for this position and will negotiate a contract with them.
